Summary
Malachi speaks to a downtrodden people who are going through the motions of life. The hardship of life has left them questioning their commitments and doubting their source of hope. The Lord, however, is unwilling to let them live in a religious malaise. He sends his prophet to bring both a word of warning and a message of hope, as God reassures His people of His commitment to His promises. In a world that can wear us down and leave us wondering, “What’s the profit” (Mal. 3:13), God gives us hope for our days and deeds.
