Patient and Persistent Prayer

Passage: Luke 18:1-8

Preacher: Pastor Kurt Ebert

Series: Pentecost

Category: Calvary Lutheran Church

Keywords: faith, hope, patience, impatience, apathy, persistence, cynical, apathetic, pessimistic. prayer as trust

Summary

How do you “view” the practice and purpose of prayer? Is it just another attempt for you to try to get your will done in heaven? God invites us to trust that His will is good and gracious. He knows what is best for us, so when we face circumstances that might make us apathetic or even pessimistic about prayer he invites us to be persistent in prayer. When we feel impatient and frustrated that we don’t see more “action”, we ask for patient prayer, as we trust His plans for us are best. Prayer is not another tip, trick, or technique. It is another way in which we connect with the God of grace.
