Summary
We live in a world built upon appearances. Entire industries are built around changing the way we look and feel. Many today are uninterested in actual change, if only they can look young, successful, happy, rich, or powerful. Others want to change, but subscribe to the mantra, “Fake it ‘til you make it.” Today, Paul urges us to move past mere appearances in faith. We are urged to a dual realization: our weakness and God’s power. When we come to this realization, we see God’s paradoxical weakness on the cross. There, in the place where Christ looked weakest, He showed true strength. There, He recreated us.
