Heavenly Father, we stand at the tomb where our Lord is buried. Here lies the one who was innocent, yet was condemned to die. Here lies the one who came in love for all mankind, yet those for whom he came condemned Him to death. Here lies the one who knew no sin, yet became sin for us. He became obedient to death while we continued in disobedience. Such an irony, yet what was the only thing that could save us? It is good for us to have this day to contemplate Christ lying in that tomb, for we, too, lie there with Him. Our sins and death were buried with Him. He will arise just as we, too, will arise. As He will arise in victory over sin, we, too, will arise forgiven and made new. As He will arise and ascend to His Father in heaven, we, too, will arise and ascend to heaven to live eternally. Only You could accomplish this great and awesome reality. We anticipate with joy the day You arose from the dead – alive, victorious, and reigning on high forever.
