Summary
“Behold!” is a word of action. It focuses our attention on something that requires a closer look. Today, the Gospel of Matthew directs our attention to an unexpected guest, a woman who is far off from God in all the traditional categories, but today she draws near in a relentless pursuit of Jesus, as he is the only one who can help her. In the events that follow we see the simple, honest, and persistent prayer of a woman who might seem far off from God, but she is close to the heart of Jesus.
