Hundreds of children take part in Calvary Lutheran Church Easter Egg Hunt.
The Calvary Lutheran Church Easter hunt brought nearly 500 people together on Indy’s southside, Saturday, April 1. Families enjoyed a day full of activities including the egg hunt, a science show exploring the wonders of chemistry, a large petting zoo, crafts, face painting, selfie station, numerous bounce houses, complimentary lunch, and games.
The annual event was free for family, friends, and neighbors to attend. Visitors were greeted with Easter bags and destination maps highlighting nine campus activities including nursery time for toddlers. Activities were tailored to children in three ages groups, 0 to 4, 5 to 8, and 9 to 12 years old.

Unlike other popular holidays, the date of Easter changes every year. This movable holiday is due to Passover, which is influenced by the moon’s cycle (McDonough et al., 2023).
Easter is the oldest Christian holiday on record. Historically, Christians would celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ every Sunday, but it evolved overtime into a holiday celebrated once a year (McDonough et al., 2023).
