CLEARLY SEEING

“For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.”      (1 Corinthians 13:12)

Good • Better • Best

The Sears and Roebuck catalogue was a staple in many homes for years. Two large catalogues came each year. The summer catalogue and the winter one arrived prior to each season. I especially welcomed the Sears Christmas catalogue. We would go page by page selecting items that went on our Christmas list. One year I wanted a set of walkie-talkies. The Sears catalogue listed three items. Good, better, and best walkie-talkies were described. Of course I wanted the best. It had the farthest range and other neat options. It was also more expensive than the other two listed. “You get what you pay for” was my father’s response when I showed him the three devices. That statement does ring true. We do indeed get what was paid regardless of the product.

Jesus came and paid a price for each of us. His price was not paid through gold or silver, but through the shedding of His innocent blood. He took our debt and paid it in full. His sacrifice redeemed us from the demands that sin places on us. His payment was for our eternal best.

I can’t remember if I even got the walkie-talkies that Christmas. Yet, we are to remember and celebrate each day the gift of God’s love found in the manger, hung on the tree suffering and dying for you and me and resurrecting in victory!! This is ours to clearly see in faith through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Good, better, best. Never let it rest. Until your good is better and your better is best.
