CLEARLY SEEING

“For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.”    (1 Corinthians 13:12)

Famous

How many people need to recognize a name or photograph in order to be considered famous? What would be your estimate- thousands? A hundred thousand? A million? Individuals considered famous have done or accomplished something that few others have succeeded at throughout history. George Washington and Abraham Lincoln are just two of our presidents that would most definitely be considered famous. Think about people still considered famous even though centuries have passed. Christopher Columbus, Galileo, and Isaac Newton are all famous for their “firsts.” To be famous transcends time and extends far beyond geographic boundaries. Some individuals that may be considered famous today have their fame fade over time.

Have you ever desired to be famous and all that accompanies that classification? Would your fame restrict your daily routines? Would it affect your family relationships? I have often thought of the daily lives of famous people. Are they even able to go to the grocery store without being mobbed? Do they require special security for their children as they attend school?

One man walked on this earth healing the sick, raising others from the grave, and fed multitudes of people. He walked on water and changed water into wine. Yet if this is where His fame rested He would have been forgotten centuries ago. His fame is through His crucifixion and Resurrection. His fame lives in each of us as we are called His children. We are a living testimony in faith through the power of the Holy Spirit. The glory of the Father is placed on His Son. His glory is eternal. Famous has connotations of earthly attributes or characteristics. We define famous by our standards of ranking. Jesus is beyond our limits of defined confinement by placing Him as simply famous. His Name goes before Him. Jesus’ Name is above all names. “At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:10-11.
