Pastor Udhayanesan Rajipillai (Pastor Raji), his wife Kalai and their children Sam, Jebri, and Alwyn have made their church home at Calvary since October, 2007. Pastor Raji serves as Chaplain at IU Health in Indianapolis, USA and as the founder of Calvary India Mission (CIM). CIM and Pr. Raji serve the Tamil Indian Christian community in Indianapolis and in Ambur, India. He leads Tamil language church services at Calvary the last Sunday of every month at 5:30 pm. CIM in India supports a Tailoring Center and Computer Center in Ambur, and two Tuition (Tutoring) Centers near Ambur (Thalayatham and T.T. Motor). All four centers offer free training in Christ’s name to poor people in the area and serve Christian, Hindu and Muslim students. In addition, Pastor Raji supports the Lutheran community in India through mission trips with participants from Calvary, Mt. Olive, Our Shepherd, and Hope Lutheran churches in Indianapolis.
Pastor Raji graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary, Nagercoil, India. He has served the India Evangelical Lutheran Church and the LCMS as an ordained pastor. He holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts Degrees in History from the University of Madras, India. He is a board certified Chaplain by the Association of Professional Chaplains. He served as Pastor for India Missions at Emmaus Lutheran Church and started Tamil worship services at Emmaus in Indianapolis, and Grace Lutheran Church in Columbus, prior to his current call to Calvary. He is a pioneer pastor to the India community in Indiana and the US, with the Indiana District-LCMS.
